POEM: BABE MARIA
Babe Maria!
Babe hope that you know me,
Babe good morning!
Listen to me now, babe!
There’s a warning!
Prison will call me.
Hello!
I was your classmate,
Babe you were my soul mate,
You promised that you’ll marry me:
The time you are a graduate!
Babe I never knew,
That your teacher was your man:
But love is like flu:
See the way you gave me pain.
I took you like a sister,
You saw me like a mister,
The teacher was so jealous
And he said that I’m a gangster.
I’m using Marijuana,
Things I do not Africana,
He told the police,
That I stole his spanner!
Babe I went to prison and so…
It was a prison,
The very danger season,
The very crazy house my dear,
You must reason.
The house of correction,
You can’t ask a question,
I saw the strange things my babe,
I can’t mention.
I was jailed because of you,
And this time I’m free,
I prayed daily for you,
Babe can’t you see?
Don’t tell me that
You don’t know me,
Girl remember the past,
Hey! I was your men,
Let the promise come to pass!
Babe hope that you know me,
Babe good morning!
Listen to me now, babe!
There’s a warning!
Prison will call me.
